Well, it snowed in Rochester, NY!  For those of you assume Rochester is this snow covered and frigid area ALL through winter, I am here to tell you you're right and wrong!

I grew up in Brighton, a subub of Rochester, NY.  I remember school being closed for almost a week; The snow was pushed from the driveway into huge piles that became our forts!  I remember going through several pairs of mittens a day!  The best was when the snow piles got so high near my house that we could climb on the garage roof.

Sorry folks-that doesn't happen anymore!  Oh sure, it snows.  But then it melts!  We now only get a snow storm in March it seems. If it does snow remeber this- you won't be late for work or school-the roads are kept clear even with loads of snow!

Snow for Christmas in Rochester, NY?  Probably not.  That hasn't happened the last few years! But for those who like to ski-don't worry Bristol Mountain will probably be ready for you!  And while you are down in the southern tier, be sure to stop by an incredible restaurant that just happens to be owned by my sister-in-law...The Brown Hound Bistro (Rt 64 just a few miles south of the mountain and just before Rt 21).

So, if you like the snow, either head for the southern tier or wait till late February/early March.  (Pop me an email if you want a current weather forecast!)

Rochester NY winters have been getting milder.  Shall we THANK Global Warming???!!!!!  I doubt it.

What do you think?  My opinion is the Rochester NY housing market is just fine!  Every time I hear the news say "Sales Nation wide are down", "Prices are down",etc...they need to add "...BUT in Rochester NY prices have declined only slightly and sales are actually up."  (Listings are down however) Why would listing be down?  Probably because of the news folks are scared to put their house on the market and with our classic Fall and Winter weather it doesn't appear to be a good time.  But, our weather patterns have changed, Buyers are busy looking for houses in Rochester NY and the buyers are qualified!  The problem is not enough houses for them to buy!  If a home is PROPERLY priced it WILL sell in Rochester NY!

Real Estate Trends: Price and Inventory

The Very Popular Culver-Merchants area (which can also include up to Winton Rd) of Rochester NY has become a growing market.  Restaurants  and shopping fill the streets and parking is easy to find.  Home prices have been pretty stable until August of 2008 when prices jumped!

Real Estate Inventory which slumped in March (maybe do to the fact winter finally came to Rochester NY!) Has been on the increase.

Over all, The culver-Merchants area of Rochester NY is a great neighborhood where folks are moving in and fixing up their homes.  A great investment area and a great area of Rochester NY Homes!
