Designing Your Home Office

Your home is your haven of comfort and relaxation, but if you work from home in Rochester NY, you'll also need a space where you can concentrate. It's important that your office is well-organized and functional, but you also have the freedom to incorporate your sense of personal style when decorating.

Whether you are setting up initially or redecorating your existing home office, here are some suggestions to keep in mind:

· Before purchasing furniture, take measurements of your workspace. You may want to sketch the area that will be your office to help you plan where you are going to put such components as your desk, filing cabinets and other furniture you may need. Also, check the placement of your electrical outlets and telephone jacks so you know where you will be able to put your computer, fax machine and other electronic equipment.

· Make sure that you have enough space in your home so your office can be separate from the rest of the house. You don't want to be interrupted by family members coming in and out of your office while you are trying to work. Ideally, you want your office to be in a quiet area of your home with a door for additional privacy.

· Once you have your office planned for ultimate productivity, have fun adding some personal touches to make it a place where you enjoy spending time. Paint the walls in a color that appeals to you and hang family photos or artwork that sparks your creativity and motivation.
